FUNDING FOR YOUTH = 11.4%
1.6 Mil Spent Wisely
Issue 1. Week 1. 15th. June 2000
The release of the reported spending of $1.6 Million of the Tasmanian public money this
week (Community Trust Fund) has angered many youth aged 15 - 25 as once more we (the
youth) have been bypassed in the spending spree undertaken by
"the board" of the Tasmanian Community Trust.
While we understand the importance of spending an amount of $400,000.00
on the Axmans Hall Of Fame and the $220,000.00 on a Community Tourist Centre for a town
called Deloraine (on the way to Burnie now bypassed by the Bass Highway) we question why
this board would not wish to support a group who have twice been ignored for funding.

Good lord please hear my prayer, and grant my lungs fresh air.
Help my try and stop my smoking, as it makes me keep on choking.
May my breath be pure and clean, with no trace of nicotine.
Stop me from needing a smoke, so that I'm not always broke.
I ask your help and its no wonder, if I don't stop I'm six foot under.

Why Do We Do The Things We Do?
Drugs:
Teenagers begin doing drugs because its easy, its everywhere. Some do it for the experience, some do it because they are pressured, but the mainSmoking: The majority of youth that smoke
in
Launceston started smoking between the ages 10-15. They start smoking
because of the social status that they obtain with it. It is socially cool.
After that some quit realising its not that cool and isnt that
pleasant, anyway. The rest on the other hand, sadly, get addicted.
Stealing: Some steal to live, to survive.
Others steal for the thrill, the excitement, for the rush. It is something to
do, and for some people dependant on their
parents it makes them feel like theyre doing something for
themselves. They are trying to become independent. The teen years are the years when
people begin to break free from their parents and develop their own individual social
status. We grow a sense of self-conscious, self-awareness, self structure, self-worth,
self-esteem, and create personal morals and standards for inner-self.
Some of these adolescents will listen to help, and some wont. The most anyone can do for teenagers in crime is teach them your views and beliefs, and why you have those. If youre lucky theyll make a conscious decision to follow these beliefs.

Lifes gift
Hate is such a waste of love
Hate is such a waste of life
Let your heart soar like a dove
A dove of peace and light
Let your heart bleed
Feel the pain
Its a lesson to heed
Reveling in the pain
Is a first progression
In making your soul
Dont buy into regression
Ignoring the pain
Keeps you stuck
Time to move on
Just dont give a f***
Bear your soul
To the daggers and swords
That lie await
Be a lord
Lord of your universe
A spiritual warrior
With death on his heels
More forward - no barriers
Life beckons
Do you hear the call
