Welcome to our to our site. The Stud was formed on the 8th January 1959, with Stra as the prefix by Len, Fan and Max Badcock, the prefix was changed to Richmond Hill in 1970. We are now situated on a 154ha property named Como approximately 20 minutes south-west from the Launceston Airport. Set below the Great Western Tiers and bound by the Liffey River, our winters are usually cold and wet, while summers are warm to hot. Average rainfall is 686mm.

Our herd is made of over 30 cow familys, we also use AI extensively and change our home bred sires regualy to keep our gene pool large. Trends alter over time but the basic aim for us has been to consistently breed big, correct, functional cattle that do well under our climatic conditions. The selection criteria also considers overall uniformity and consistency in the herd. We use the latest genetics, proven and out cross so that our cattle grow well, are fertile, structurally correct and perform under

commercial conditions. Almost all of our cattle are sold in to commercial herds, so we run our cattle commercially so they go on to excel in these conditions.
