GLC INTERNATIONAL TEAM and DISTINGUISHED DIALOGUE PRESENTERS Rosemary Williams Wray is an Australian who has studied, lived and worked in the US since 1975. She has developed a thorough knowledge of US education and received several major grants including a National Science Foundation Grant for the study of assessment (3 years), and a subsequent NSF Creativity Award for the study of assessment analysis and communication systems (2 years). She has presented keynote speeches and workshops at state, national and international conferences in Australia and the US and has a unique way of synthesizing all of the key learning areas.She is a member of the National Advisory Panel on New Standards in Education. Rosemary is known for opening up new ways of thinking about and working with information across all levels of education, through a combination of anthropological, scientific, artistic and ethical approaches. Working with maps, metaphors and poetry, she creates a new landscape for our practical and theoretical explorations of information. Dr. Peggy McCabe manages the Global Learning Communities office in Sacramento CA. She has held senior educational positions as a superintendent, principal, lecturer and psychologist. She has also taught numerous undergraduate and graduate classes in teacher education, administrator training and management training. As a consultant, Dr. McCabe has trained thousands of teachers, administrators and private sector employees in a variety of processes, including cooperative learning, performance based learning, time managment, communication, conflict management and a number of other subject areas. Co-author of eight books, Dr. McCabe has years of experience in Internet research and writing in a vast variety of topic areas. Alison Brewer manages the Global Learning Communities office in New Zealand. She has held positions as a principal, teacher, and consultant and is the creator of an innovative Assessment program called 3D Achieve, available to both english and Maori languages and schools. Renate Nummela Caine, Ph.D. is a professor of education at California State University, San Bernardino, and former Executive Director of the CSUSB Center for Research in Integrative Learning and Teaching. She was an award winning teacher and has worked at every level of education from kindergarten to university. Her background is in both counseling and educational psychology, and she has numerous publications. Renate consults on learning, teaching and education throughout the United States and in other countries. She high;y regarded and sought after internationally for the application of brain research in learning and teaching, creativity, stress management, vocational education, language acquisition and teacher development. Geoffrey Caine, LL.M. is a learning and education consultant specializing in Brain Based Learning and Teaching. He is an adjunct member of faculty at the University of Redlands Whitehead Center for Lifelong Learning where he teaches philosophy and management.As well as schools and educational organizations, Geoffrey also works with business, where he capitalizes on his prior experience as a lecturer in law at the University of NSW and National Director of the Mind/Brain Network of the American Society for Training and Development. The Caines have published extensively. They are coauthors of Making Connections: Teaching and the Human Brain, Education on the Edge of Possibility, Unleashing the Power of Perceptual Change, and Mindshifts Programs they offer for both schools and business/community groups include the following * Visions of the future * Education on the Edge of Possibility: A one or two day workshop * Understanding complex systems * Our Mindshifts process Bonnie Benard is an internationally renowned figure in the field of prevention theory, policy and practice. She builds links between research and practice focused on resiliency to assist teachers, schools and communities to create learning environments which will enhance student learning outcomes through the establishment of caring relationships, high expectations, opportunities for active participation, and future directedness. Bonnie has published extensively in the fields prevention and resiliency and is well known for her compassionate and extensive understanding of the research. Jeanne Gibbs Creator of the 'Tribes' program, Jeanne has spent her professional career creating and implementing programs to support children's development and prevent problems with youth. Her approach encourages schools, families and communities to create healthy environments in which children can grow and learn. Ruth Sutton is an experienced education consultant and trainer who specialises in assessment issues. As a teacher, principal and consultant across North America, New Zealand and the UK, her expertise lies in helping schools and teachers come to terms with the specific outcomes of new curriculum frameworks, and how to assess, record and report on student assessment, school self review and teacher development. She is also an author of several books which are characterised by a fusion of research and practical advice sprinkled with cartoons, diagrams, anecdotes and challenging questions.
