Lula grew up on a place about a half mile south of the Burbery place. The Burbery's and the Garretts often brought each other mail from Loomis. It was an old English custom to have a schedule and do things at a certain time. You could almost set your watch by the when the Burbery's would retun from town. As a kid, Lula would go over and pick up the mail and always knew what time to be there. Very seldom did they miss the time by more than 15 minutes. Some times she would go early and play with Dorothy or go with her to feed the chickens and gather the eggs as those chores were done at a certain time too.
The washing was done on Monday morning regardless of the weather. Ironing and baking were done on certain days and John Burbery who tended the garden always knew what vegetable to bring from the garden for each day of the week. S228
