When Henry announced his engagement to Miss Sarah Wade, his father bought him Nugent, a property near Richmond. The story of Henry's courtship of Sarah is mentioned in detail in a diary written by Alfred Abbott, sister of the Maria Abbott who married Henry's younger brother Alfred.
Henry spent his later years living in Oatlands, helping various other members of the family on their properties. He and Sarah had ten children. Several of their sons moved to Victoria where they prospered, mainly in the dried-fruit industry around Mildura. |
